VISITORS to the boyhood home of Henry VIII were transported back to the 15th Century for a taste of courtly life.
Eltham Palace, Court Road, Eltham, held a Tudor Times event featuring authentic music, food and dancing.
People could try traditional remedies and healing potions such as medicinal clove oranges.
There was also the chance to try making wax seals and have a go at Tudor writing.
The event was hosted by people dressed in the fashions of the period.
Eltham Palace is managed by English Heritage, which protects and promotes England's historic environment.
English Heritage London sales and marketing manager Wendy Davidson said: "We saw a great turnout, despite less than perfect weather, and almost 1,500 people enjoyed the fun and games of our Tudor Times event."
The palace will hold a Tudor falconry event on August 19 and August 20.
