A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD is celebrating after winning a competition to design a party dress.

Alexandra King beat around 4,000 other entries in the competition covering London and the south east, which was held to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Rainbow Girl Guides.

Alexandra, who is a Year 2 pupil at Ashgrove Primary School, Widmore Road, Bromley, used pipe cleaners and coloured paper to create her design.

Her prize was for a dressmaker to make party outfits for her and a Rainbow doll.

She was presented with these at the Guides' headquarters in central London.

Alexandra's mum Judith, 40, of Landsdowne Road, Bromley, said: "She's so pleased.

"Her favourite subject is art but I think it's a bit early to say whether she'll become a designer yet, as she is only seven."

The Rainbow Guides are the younger section of the Girl Guides, with members aged from five to seven.

Alexandra used to be in the 1st Plaistow Rainbows but is now with the 17th Bromley Brownies.
