Leisure centres across Lewisham are running additional activities today (February 1) to keep children busy during the teachers strike.

Better run leisure centres across the borough have added extra family swimming sessions (Swim for All), junior gym sessions, adult and child gym sessions as well as junior classes to timetables.

Centres taking part in the scheme include: Bellingham Leisure & Lifestyle Centre, Glass Mill Leisure Centre, Forest Hill Pools and Wavelengths Leisure Centre.

At the Bellingham Leisure and Lifestyle Centre and Wavelengths Leisure Centres, soft play activities will be available for younger children.

Cafes at Better leisure centres throughout the borough have WIFI and seating areas which are suitable for students to do school work.

Schools that are still open and have swimming lessons scheduled will go ahead as normal however Better advise checking with schools for more information.

Better also say they will amend their timetables on future teacher strike days throughout February and March.

Activities can be booked on the Better UK app, online or in a centre.
