As teachers across the country picket today in a bid for better pay, Lewisham Council has issued an update.
They have said that they are aware the industrial action could impact schools in the borough.
The dates on which schools could be affected are:
- Wednesday, February 1
- Thursday, March 2
- Wednesday, March 15
- Thursday, March 16
Lewisham Council suggests that parents check the website of their child's school for more information.
They added that school closures will depend on the number of staff deciding to take strike action.
A spokesperson for Lewisham Council said: “We’re aware of national strike action which will affect some educational settings.
"The dates which could potentially impact Lewisham schools are as follows:
- Wednesday 1 February 2023
- Thursday 2 March 2023
- Wednesday 15 March 2023
- Thursday 16 March 2023
"For updates on school closures, please visit school websites directly.
"Decisions about school closures will depend on how many staff decide to take strike action and headteachers are currently working on contingency plans based on the guidance issued by the Department for Education."
