A Bromley nursery where staff go "above and beyond" has been upgraded from good to outstanding in its most recent Ofsted inspection.

Ofsted inspectors visited Burnt Ash School Nursery at Rangefield Road on November 3 and the report was published on December 19, 2022.

The nursery was previously rated as 'good' in 2016 but has now been named as 'outstanding' in all areas: Quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management.

Inspectors were impressed by the independence of children at this nursery.

They wrote in their report: "Children are highly independent learners.

"They make decisions, such as what songs to sing or which book to read.

"This shows impressive levels of self-esteem and confidence."

They added: "Children are extremely enthusiastic about taking age-appropriate responsibilities, such as checking their environments to minimise risks.

"Children's behaviour is excellent. They are kind and show empathy towards their peers."

Ofsted reported that leaders and staff at Burnt Ash Nursery School work well together to give children "the best quality of care and education."

They found that staff here are good at identifying the support that children need and acting on it.

For example, children who had limited vocabulary can now hold conversations with other children and even adults.

Inspectors found that leaders make "superb" use of funding to support children with SEND.

They also found that staff go "above and beyond" to work with parents so that their children's education is consistent.

Faye Blain, deputy head teacher at Burnt Ash Primary School, said: "Burnt Ash Primary School is extremely proud to be celebrating the ‘outstanding’ grade our nursery has received in their recent Ofsted.

"Children at Burnt Ash Primary School Nursery love learning and are enthusiastic and motivated young learners.

"This is supported by our wonderful nursery team who have high expectations of the children and are always supporting them to achieve.

"Our staff are knowledgeable and skilful, working hard to meet children’s needs and grow independent learners.

"Additionally, the nursery staff work very closely with parents which contributes to the remarkable progress that they make during their time with us; children gain strong literacy and mathematical skills in preparation for school.

"As ecstatic as we are with the Ofsted judgement, this only validates what we already knew - Burnt Ash Primary School Nursery provides a wonderful starting point for children’s learning journey."
