This is the moment fire crews evacuated people on a boat who were affected by the burst water main flooding in Eltham.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Eltham Road this morning (January 6) to resolve the issue.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to the scene.

Six properties and Lee Green fire station were left flooded as a result of the incident.

A video, captured by London Fire Brigade, shows two people on an inflatable boat being assisted by six firefighters.

Thames Water has apologised to anyone experiencing low-pressure or no water at their homes.

It confirmed engineers have shut off the flow from the burst and supplies are now returning to the affected area.

People are being advised by London Fire Brigade to avoid the area as road closures are still in place.

Closures are in place from A2212 Burnt Ash Road (Lee Green) to Weigall Road, according to AA maps.

Blackheath High School in Vanbrugh Park also announced its closure due to being affected by the flood.

In a tweet, the school said: "There is a major Thames Water flood affecting the surrounding area and our school.

“Both Junior School and Senior School have unfortunately had to close."

There were no reports of any injuries following the flood.

The incident was over for firefighters just before 10.10am.
