London has a lot of great characteristics, from its vast history, impressive landmarks, and endless amounts of activities.

But one thing the capital has never been known for is its cleanliness.

The tube seats make you question if you really want to take a seat or if you really want to hold on to the escalator handle.

Although London has come a long way in cleanliness from its time in the smog and the recent ULEZ expansion announcement promising to help the region's pollution.

The capital is haunted by its daily dirt made by the thousands of people travelling across the region.

@get_homethings Replying to @miamoshal Posting this from inside a tube station. Pls don’t touch the anything near the escalator ⛔️🤢🤮😭 It’s always reassuring when there’s a warning sign for *VERY* poor air quality on your public transport right!?😊🐀 What shall we investigate next then? 👀 let us know in the comments🤪 #satisfyingclean #gethomethings #londonisdirty #sustainablestartup #girlsvsdirt #londonunderground #tubeline #tubestation #escalators #tfl ♬ running up that hill - <3

And now fans of cleaning having taking it upon themselves to find out just how dirty London really is.

As TikTok users from @get_homethings have been putting cleaning products to the test and seeing how much dirt is on the streets of London.

How dirty is London?

The pair visited London’s most used and iconic landmarks, from various tube stations to The Shard and even the Trafalgar Square lions.

Unsurprisingly, the London Underground was in need of a clean, as the pair wiped the doors seeing just how dirty they were after leaving a clean swipe on the door.

The two also inspected a tube station, as they wiped the escalator handle, leaving them shocked as they discovered just how dirty the handles were as they called it “disgusting”.

Taking a trip to the tallest building in the UK, the pair cleaned The Shard finding that the skyscraper was spotless and left no marks of dirt.

But The Shard wasn’t the only surprisingly clean landmark as the pair visited the Trafalgar Square Lions finding that the friendly cats were both sparkly clean.

The pair’s cleaning videos have quickly gone viral across the popular video app.

As thousands watch their cleaning videos and share their opinions on just how dirty London is.

One user wrote: “You’re brave doing this without gloves” and another simply added “Grim”.

But not everyone thinks the capital is that dirty, after sharing that they thought it would have been much worse.

As one user wrote: “what do you expect when thousands of people walk through every day.”
