FAMILY and friends of schoolgirl Gemma Rolfe have gathered to remember her on the fifth anniversary of her death.
Gemma died, aged 12, after the car in which she was travelling with her stepfather Dean Robey was hit by a stolen van in Slade Green Road, near the junction with Canada Road, Slade Green, on May 19, 2003.
A pupil at Erith School in Avenue Road, Erith, Gemma was on her way to Guides when the accident happened.
She had to be cut out of the wreckage and died at the scene.
The driver of the van fled the scene. No-one has been charged in connection with Gemma's death.
Her mother Janet Ford, Mr Robey, Gemma's brother Kye, her grandparents and friends from school were among those who gathered near the site of the accident to remember her.
Mrs Ford says the family will continue to gather every year until someone is prosecuted for her daughter's death.
She appealed for anyone with information to call Bexley police on 020 8301 1212.
