Two Bromley restaurants are in the running to win at the upcoming British Curry Awards.

This year marks the 18th annual ceremony of the British Curry Awards which will be taking place in London on Monday (November 28).

The awards bring together the best curry restaurants from across the country and two restaurants in Bromley - Shampan Bromley and Copper Cylon - have been shortlisted to win Best Restaurant in the London Suburbs category.

Shampan Bromley

Address: 38 Chatterton Rd, Bromley BR2 9QN

Shampan has an impressive 5.1-star rating on Just Eat, the main sponsors of the awards and has been praised by many customers online for its flavour and large portions.

Copper Cylon

Address: 32 East Street, BR1 1QU

The second contender is Sri Lankan restaurant Copper Ceylon, which has garnered 782 reviews on Goggle.

Some of the curry house's most popular dishes are its mutton curry, aubergine curry, and cab curry.

Equally its cocktails are a huge hit with diners, with 123 reviews on their cocktails alone, according to Google.

This year is particularly significant for celebrating local restaurants as they have faced a turbulent few years due to the pandemic and continue to face inflation and rising energy bills.

With increasing costs, it is estimated that a curry could cost £30 on average, which could in turn lead to further restaurant closures and a loss of jobs.

Jeffrey Ali, director of the British Curry Awards, said: “Whilst the international community, especially the UK, faces a continued onslaught of economic uncertainty and political instability, we take solace from the general public who continue to support local businesses such as their local curry restaurants.

"We're currently developing the 'Onion Bhaji Index', which will help consumers and business owners alike to better understand prices at their local curry establishment.

"As a consumer forward award platform, our goal is to promote the best in Britain, bringing real value to our nation’s customers.”
