A 21-year-old man has died in hospital after being stabbed late on Friday night (November 4) in Lewisham.

Police and paramedics found the man with stab wounds in Bromley Road, Downham at 11.50pm.

Officers have now said that they believe the man was attacked by “up to three men” who then fled the area on foot.

He was taken to hospital where he died yesterday afternoon (November 5).

While formal identification has not yet taken place, police say they believe they know who that man is and have informed his family.

No arrests have been made at this stage and a murder investigation has been launched.

They are now appealing for anyone with further information or witnesses to contact them quoting crime reference number 8645/04nov.

Officers say that they believe that witnesses to the attack may have been in the area and urge people to check their dashcams for any footage.

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command leads the investigation and said: “We know there were several people in the Bromley Road area who either witnessed this incident or the events leading up to and after this incident.

“I would urge them, along with any road users in the area who may have captured events on dashcam to come forward and speak to police.

“At this early stage we believe the victim was attacked by up to three men, who then fled the scene on foot.

“A young man’s family is grieving following another senseless loss of life to knife violence; please help them get justice and speak to police if you know anything that could help us.”
