A takeaway delivery driver has died along with a second man in a double shooting in south London.

The pair were killed in Railton Road in Brixton shortly before 8pm on Sunday after locals heard shots ring out and vehicles crashing.

There are two white forensic tents at the scene today, along with two crashed vehicles – a silver car which had lost one of its tyres and a moped.

On Monday, a Deliveroo driver working near the scene said he knew one of the victims, who had been making his last delivery of the day when he died.

Paulo Silva, 42, a Deliveroo driver, drove to the scene on his moped and said he knew one of the men who had died from work.

He described him as a “good boy” and “young”, adding that it was his last delivery of the day.

He was planning to go to Brazil in December.

Debris from the two vehicles was scattered along the road.

A 322 bus was also at the scene, within the cordon.

Ten police officers are currently at the scene.

Gregory Osefoh, 59, works at the Stanley Mini Market on Railton Road.

He was not working at the store when the incident happened.

Upon hearing about the incident, he said: “(I was) a combination of upset, shocked and highly disappointed that people could take away other people’s life; the life they did not create. There’s absolutely no reason for that.

“Nobody would be happy to see such a thing happening around where you live or where you do your business. So, it’s not a good thing at all.”

Mr Osefoh has been in the area for 15 years and said: “We have never seen any shooting around here."

Officers, including firearms officers, were called on Sunday night (October 30) along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

The nature of the men's injuries has not been confirmed at this time.

Their next of kin are yet to be informed and post-mortem examinations will be held in due course.

Local residents will see an enhanced police presence in the area and are advised to speak with officers if they have any information.

At this stage, there have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 6166/30Oct.
