A man has been left in a critical condition after a street fight which has closed Lewisham High Road.

Ambulance crews called police at around 12.10pm today (October 28) to a fight and an injured man in Parkside Avenue, off Lewisham Road.

When police got there, the injured man had already left the scene in a car.

The car stopped on Lewisham High Road where a passing paramedic was then flagged down.

The man, 18, had been stabbed and was taken to hospital.

He is in a critical condition and crime scenes remain in place at both locations.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Police were called by London Ambulance Service [LAS] at 12:10hrs on Friday, 28 October to reports of a fight and an injured male at Parkside Avenue [off Lewisham Road] SE10.

"Officers attended.

"The injured male had already left the scene in a car.

"The car stopped at High Road, Lewisham where a passing paramedic was flagged down.

"The injured male, aged 18, who was suffering from knife injuries, was taken to hospital where his condition is currently critical.

"Crimes scenes remain in place at both locations.

"Anyone who witnessed this incident or has footage or information should call police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 3137/28OCT.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.09pm today (28 October) to reports of a stabbing on the junction of Lewisham Road and Station Road.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, two medics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and we also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated one person at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre.”
