An open-air cinema is returning to Bluewater shopping centre in Dartford this Christmas season for three weeks of festive film showings.

The Luna Cinema will be showing Christmas movies on the big screen from December 2 to 22 via a classic drive-in experience where viewers can watch from the comfort of their own cars.

Festive favourites that are being shown at the cinema include Love Actually, The Holiday, Home Alone, The Santa Clause, Arthur Christmas, Elf and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

The Luna Winter Drive-In Cinema promises “a truly unique cinematic experience” with “sleigh-fulls of fairy lights, festive food and drink and a giant high-definition cinema screen”.

The cinema provides wireless in-car speaker boxes so that everyone can hear the films meaning that there is no need to have the car radio running and risk draining the battery.

Christmas treats are available to purchase such as hot cocoa and mulled wine but viewers are also welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks to the movies (though the bringing of alcohol to the events is restricted).

George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, says: “There’s quite simply nothing like watching your favourite festive film to bring on that Christmas feeling. “Everyone has their favourite title – each year I always say I don’t feel like it’s Christmas until I’ve watched Home Alone.

“We couldn’t be more excited to announce this year’s Luna winter season, with both drive-in and indoor screenings taking place at some of our favourite venues across the country.

“The programmes playing in Kent represents the ultimate line up of Christmas classics, accompanied by stunning winter themed backdrops and all the festive food and drink you can imagine - we have no doubt this year is set to be the best winter season yet.
