A man in his 30s is fighting for his life after a crash in Sidcup.

The incident between a car and a pedestrian happened in Halfway Street just after 11.20am today (October 14).

Police, London Ambulance Service paramedics and an air ambulance were called to the scene.

The man was found with a head injury and taken to a major trauma centre.

His condition has been assessed as life-threatening.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving.

He remains in custody at a south London police station. 

Police enquiries are ongoing following the incident.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call 101 and quote reference CAD 2708/14Oct. 

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 11.22am on Friday, 14 October to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Halfway Street, Sidcup. 

“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service.

“The pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with head injury. 

“His condition has been assessed as life-threatening. 

“The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drug driving.

“He remains in custody at a south London police station. 

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information about what happened is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 2708/14Oct.”

A spokesperson for London Ambulance said: “We were called today (14 October) at 11.22am to reports of a road traffic collision on Halfway Street, Sidcup.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an incident response officer and an ambulance crew. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a man at the scene at took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
