BROMLEY councillors have voted in a new mayor.

Kelsey and Eden Park Councillor Denise Reddin was appointed mayor of Bromley for 2008/9 at the annual council meeting on May 14.

She appointed Cray Valley East Councillor Brenda Thompson as deputy mayor, who fills the position for the second year running.

Cllr Reddin said: "I'm honoured by my appointment as the first citizen of the borough.

"I'm looking forward to meeting as many people as possible during my year in office, as I represent Bromley and all that it stands for locally, across London and the South East."

Bromley Common and Keston Councillor Stephen Carr was reappointed council leader for the fifth year running.

The other members of the executive remain the same.
