A TIP was the unusual setting for a recent celebration by Waste Alert Bromley and Bexley the local waste minimisation club for businesses.

The group, which is partly funded by the London boroughs of Bromley and Bexley, was meeting to celebrate saving 80 businesses more than £60,000 in disposal and purchasing costs, since it was launched in May 1999.

The group, now in its third year, aims to help local businesses save money and increase efficiency by reducing their waste disposal, water and energy costs.

One of the benefits of being a part of the scheme is the waste exchange service.

Member Renia Szal, explained: “Businesses donate and receive items, which are no longer wanted and put to a new use, this saves purchasing and waste disposal costs.”
