London Ambulance Service has released information after a man in his 70s has died following a crash with a bin lorry in Bromley.

Police, ambulance crews and London's Air Ambulance were called to the crash between a lorry and a pedestrian in The Grove in West Wickham at around 7.20am.

The pedestrian, a man believed to be aged in his 70s, died at the scene.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene.

London Ambulance Service sent two ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and a medic in a fast response car to the scene, along with London's Air Ambulance.

The first paramedic arrived at the scene in less than seven minutes.

Despite London Ambulance Service efforts, the man died at the scene.

A spokesperson for Bromley Council has confirmed that the lorry was not a Council vehicle or a contractor's vehicle.

They said their condolence and thoughts are particularly with family and friends at this time.

Police are yet to inform the man's next of kin.

Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 1169/20Sep.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called this morning (20 September) at 07:17am to reports of a road traffic collision in The Grove, West Wickham.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including two ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer, and a medic in a fast response car. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“Our first paramedic arrived at the scene in less than seven minutes.

“Despite the efforts of our team, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 07:20hrs on Tuesday, 20 September to reports of a collision involving a refuse lorry and a pedestrian in The Grove, West Wickham.

"Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.

"The pedestrian, a man believed to be aged in his 70s, died at the scene.

"His next of kin are yet to be informed.

"The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene.

"Road closures are in place and enquiries are ongoing.

"Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 1169/20Sep."
