SHOCKING pictures show a huge 10-hectare land fire in Dartford Heath.  

Ten fire engines were called to the blaze just before 6.10pm on August 13.

Pictures from the scene show the land left damaged by the fire.

It also shows smoke billowing into the air as firefighters tackle the blaze. 

One fire engine currently remains at the scene of the blaze.

Crews are searching the affected land for any remaining hotspots.   

The fire service is no longer warning people in the area to keep their windows and doors closed.

Firefighters used hose reel jets to tackle the blaze.  

The cause of the fire is unknown.

A spokesperson for Kent Fire and Rescue said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending a fire on Dartford Heath.   

“Ten fire engines currently at the scene and crews are working hard to contain the fire.

“Firefighters are currently asking anyone who lives or works nearby to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to smoke coming from the incident.”  

A statement issued by Kent Fire and Rescue at 11.45pm yesterday (August 14): “Two fire engines remain at the scene of a fire on Dartford Heath where approximately 10 hectares of land has been affected.  

 “Crews are making good progress and advice to keep windows and doors closed in the local area due to smoke is still currently in place.”

The latest Kent Fire and Rescue update, issued at 9.15am today (August 15), said: “One fire engine remains at the scene of the fire on Dartford Heath, and firefighters are working their way across the charred land in search of remaining hotspots to extinguish, to prevent the fire from reigniting.”
