Transport for London has shared that it is considering extending the Bakerloo Line, with the potential for the line to reach as far as Kent. 

The extension would lead all the way to Lewisham, through New Cross Gate and Old Kent Road, in a bid to improve southeast transport connections. 

Now the plans have been given a helping hand after receiving a project funding package last month. 

Currently, the furthest station on the Bakerloo Line is Elephant and Castle, but the development could see passengers reach Lewisham on the tube.

With more exciting news from TfL sharing that they are now considering a potential second phase, seeing the service extend its reach beyond Lewisham. 

Seeing an additional extension from Lewisham to Ladywell, Catfordbridge, Lower Sydenham, New Beckenham, Beckenham Junction, Clock House, Elmers End, Eden Park, West Wickham and Hayes. 

And with stations in New Beckenham, Beckenham Junction, Clock House, Elmers End, Eden Park, West Wickham and Hayes it means the line would reach the Bromley. 

Although a London Borough, Bromley has Kent postcodes and is in the historic Kent area, but was pulled into the suburbs of London after the capital area grew.

TfL said: "The route would have a frequent Tube service, improving journey times for customers and offering better connections within southeast London and into central London" according to Kent Live. 

If the line extension got the green light, a new ticket hall would be built in Elephant and Castle Station and New Cross Gate.

Back in 2019 TfL created a report with a reaction to the extension, with 82% of respondents (73% strongly, 9% moderately) approved of the Hayes extension.
