A teenager from Scotland has been charged with racially aggravated offences following an assault on a bus in Dartford.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, boarded a bus in West Hill, Dartford, on January 2, 2022, where she was reported to have been approached by the suspect who was with a group of friends.

During the incident the victim was punched on her arm and subjected to racially motivated abuse.

Officers carried out an investigation and a 15-year-old teenage girl was arrested in Edinburgh on May 27.

She was later charged via post with common assault and racially aggravated assault and is due to attend Medway Magistrates’ Court on August 22.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: "A teenager from Scotland has been charged with racially aggravated offences following an assault on a bus in Dartford.

"The victim, a woman in her 20s, boarded a bus in West Hill, Dartford, on 2 January 2022 where she was reported to have been approached by the suspect who was with a group of friends.

"During the incident the victim was allegedly punched on her arm and subjected to racially motivated abuse.

"Officers carried out an investigation and a 15-year-old teenage girl was arrested in Edinburgh on 27 May.

"She was later charged via post with common assault and racially aggravated assault and is due to attend Medway Magistrates’ Court on 22 August."
