A man has been charged with multiple offences after a series of linked sexual assaults that happened in Southwark.

Police received a number of reports throughout Tuesday alleging that a man was sexually assaulting and harassing women in the Camberwell and Ruskin Park areas.

The reports began in the morning and others came throughout the day.

An urgent investigation was launched and a suspect was arrested later that day.

Today, Chai Thomas-Manners was charged with eight counts of sexual assault by touching in relation to incidents on July 5.

Thomas-Manners, 28, was also charged with three counts of sexual assault by touching in relation to incidents on April 27.

He was also charged with count of production of cannabis.

Thomas-Manners, of Basingdon Way in Camberwell, will appear in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court later today.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Detectives investigating a series of linked sexual assaults that happened in Southwark on Tuesday have charged a man with multiple offences.

"Police received a number of reports, the first in the morning and others throughout the day, alleging that a man was sexually assaulting and harassing women in the Camberwell and Ruskin Park areas.

"Uniformed officers and detectives were deployed to the area.

"As a result of an urgent investigation a suspect was identified and arrested later the same day.

"On Thursday, 7 July, Chai Thomas-Manners, 28 (11.05.94) of Basingdon Way, Camberwell was charged with the following offences: Eight counts of sexual assault by touching in relation to incidents on 5 July 2022.

"Three counts of sexual assault by touching in relation to incidents 27 April 2022.

"One count of production of cannabis.

"He will appear in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court later today (7 July)."
