A man in his 60s has died after a hit and run in Plumstead.  

The man was found injured in Bannockburn Road at around 2.45pm today (July 1).  

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended. 

An ambulance crew, a paramedic in a response car, and an air ambulance responded. 

The man was given CPR at the scene but was pronounced dead at 3.20pm. 

His next of kin is yet to be informed. 

The car involved in the incident did not stop at the scene. 

Police are trying to trace the vehicle and the driver following the incident. 

Any witnesses who have dash cam footage or residents with CCTV cameras that may have captured images of the vehicle are asked by police to call 101 and quote reference CAD 4209/01Jul.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “On Friday, 1 July, at approximately 14:45hrs, police were called to a pedestrian in collision with a vehicle on Bannockburn Road, SE18. 

“The car did not stop at the scene. 

“Officers found an injured man, believed to be in his sixties, at the scene.  

“They performed CPR on him but sadly the man was pronounced dead at 15:20hrs. His next of kin are yet to be informed. 

“Police are trying to trace the vehicle and driver, and are particularly keen to hear from witnesses who have dash cam footage, or residents with CCTV cameras that may have captured images of the vehicle.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.40pm today (01 July) to reports of a road traffic collision on Bannockburn Road, Plumstead.

“We sent an ambulance crew, and a paramedic in a response car. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of our medics, a man died at the scene.”
