A HAIRDRESSER from Bromley will appear on a billboard in Bromley in his swimwear if he wins a competition.

Tommy Scott entered a competition on June 7 through Instagram by sending a photo of himself posing in swimwear made by the company Budgy Smugglers, who run the competition.

The 32-year-old told the News Shopper that he initially ordered a pair of the swimwear “for a laugh” from the company before going on a lads’ holiday.

After entering, Tommy found out that he was selected to compete in the “Most Ordinary Rig” contest which is a celebration to promote positive body image for men.

He said: “I ordered a pair of swimwear and in the packaging, there was a leaflet which mentioned entering a competition by posting a picture of yourself in their swimwear.

“I originally decided to enter it for a bit of a laugh as I was going away for the weekend away with the boys.

“I thought that you just entered a picture and then they pick their favourite, and you could win that way.

“But what I didn't realise was if they selected you, you went through to a top ten in the UK and there was a bigger competition waiting for me.”

The competition will take place on July 2 at Limin' Beach Club in South Bank, London.

The night will consist of a catwalk in which every competitor will wear wings that they have designed themselves.

A winner will then be crowned with a one-year Budgy Smuggler modelling contract, a billboard in their hometown, and a trip to Australia in 2023 to compete in the “World's Most Ordinary Rig” competition.

Tommy said the support he has received from his friends and family has been “overwhelming” after finding out he was competing.

He added: “At first when I found out I made it to the finals, I thought to myself, oh God what have I got myself into?

“But after seeing the support it has made me want to do it even more.

“We’ve done the best we can, and we have fully prepared me for the day now.

“I’ve got my friends and family all coming to support and hopefully we’ll win the whole thing.”
