A man allegedly spat at Bexley police during his arrest.

Police were called to a suspect who had reportedly caused damage to an address.

He was also said to have been seen carrying a knife.

Officers searched the man and he was allegedly carrying a pair of scissors.

As police arrested the man, he allegedly spat in one of the officer's faces whilst being taken to the police van.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault on an emergency worker, possession of offensive weapon and criminal damage.

Greenwich Police tweeted: “#Arrested 

“1 Arrested for Assault on Emergency worker 

“Possession of an offensive weapon and Criminal Damage.

“Great work by Response Team at #Bexley

“Police called to suspect who was seen with a knife who had just caused damage to a property.

“He was searched and found in possession of a pair of scissors and arrested.

“He then spat in one of the officer’s face whilst escoting back to the police van.

“Arrested for assault on an emergency work, possession of offensive weapon and criminal damage.”
