18 motorists have been issued with fines in a crackdown on antisocial driving in north Kent.

Officers were specifically deployed in Dartford and Greenhithe between Friday, June 10 and Sunday, June 12 in response to concerns about the behaviour of some drivers.

A dispersal order under the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 was also enforced to stop large groups gathering in the area.

During the three days, officers issued 18 traffic offence reports - 17 of which related to speeding in Temple Hill and Crossways Boulevard.

The other was for no insurance.

Those reported for speeding recieved £100 fines and the uninsured vehicle was seized.

Three further drivers were required to leave the area after patrols saw them using their vehicles antisocially in a Greenhithe car park.

The order prevented them from returning for 48 hours.

Community Safety Unit Inspector for north Kent, Trevor Jenner, said: "A small number of drivers have had a detrimental effect on the quality of life for local communities.

"We have noted the concerns from residents and this latest operation was the response.

"We will continue to target those who behave in this manner and those who persist risk further fines and having their vehicle seized."

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: "A crackdown on drivers using their vehicles in an antisocial manner in north Kent has led to 18 motorists being issued with fines.

"Between Friday 10 and Sunday 12 June 2022, officers were specifically deployed in Dartford and Greenhithe in response to local concerns about the behaviour of a minority of drivers.

"A dispersal order under the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, was also enforced to prevent large groups of people congregating in the area.

"During the three days officers issued 18 traffic offence reports, 17 of which related to speeding in Temple Hill and Crossways Boulevard and another for no insurance.

"Those reported for speeding received fixed penalty notices for £100 and the uninsured vehicle was seized.

"Three further motorists were required to leave the area after patrols saw them using their vehicles antisocially in a Greenhithe car park.

"The order prevented them from returning for 48 hours.
