MANY households across south east London are trying to cut down on spending as much as possible.

Energy usage is arguably the area where people are feeling the tightest squeeze after bills have doubled due to April's price cap increase.

This is a rise from £693 a year to £1,971 for those on default tariffs paying by direct debit for the average household.

It seems the worst is yet to come as households are preparing for another increase in bills this winter, according to Ofgem.

The prediction comes after households were hit by a 54 per cent increase in April.

The increase is driven by a record rise in global gas prices over the last six months.

We created a graph from UK Government data which shows how much gas is used across south east London.

The data shows gas consumption within a year from May 2020.

This data is a measure of how much energy a household is using per hour.
