Two people have been arrested after drugs and a knife were found in a car in Greenwich.

Officers attempted to stop the car on Woolwich Road which led to a car chase where the driver drove dangerously fast.

The Lewisham Police officers saw the two men throw items out of the car on the A2 which were later found to be a knife and herbal cannabis.

The car, which was registered to Brockley, eventually stopped near the Bluewater turn-off of the A2.

Police found a baseball bat next to the driver’s seat, as well as cannabis and cocaine.

A further search found more drugs and the two men were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and being concerned in the supply of drugs.

A spokesperson for Greenwich Police said: “Whilst on mobile patrol officers in SE140Lates noticed a Black BMW 1 series with two male occupants.

“Checks on the vehicle showed it registered to Brockley, SE4 with Intelligence relating it to the supply of drugs.

“SE140Lates attempted to stop the vehicle on Woolwich Road j/w Brampton Road.

“A pursuit then followed where the vehicle drove dangerously at speed.

“Observed to discard items on the A2.

“Eventually stopped near the Bluewater turn off of the A2.

“Driver and passenger detained.

“In the vehicle was a baseball bat next to the driver’s seat by the door, some cannabis and some cocaine.

“Officers retrieved the discarded items which were a knife and a quantity of herbal cannabis.

“Section 18 searches revealed more drugs, snap bags that matched those found earlier and sets of digital scales.”
