A dodged £7.80 Southeastern train fare has ended up costing a man nearly £400 in court.

Jake Batten travelled on a Southeastern train at Bexley station on October 15, 2021 without having paid the £7.80 fare for his journey - and with intention of avoiding payment.

The 20-year-old was ordered to pay £396.80 for the offence during a hearing at Bexley Magistrates' Court on May 11, 2022.

This includes a £220 fine, £7.80 compensation, £34 to fund victim services and costs of £135.

Batten, of Church Street in Teston, must pay this by June 8, 2022.
