A 29-year-old man from Lewisham has been arrested after a stabbing in Greenwich.

Emergency services were called to Greenwich High Road at around 2.15am today (May 1).

A man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he died shortly after. 

The victim’s family has been informed. 

Officers say the man was stabbed following a fight outside Belushi’s bar in Greenwich High Road. 

A man was then arrested on suspicion of murder at a residential address.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed in Greenwich in the early hours of this morning (1 May).

“Officers from British Transport Police and the Metropolitan Police were called to Greenwich High Road at 2.15am following reports of a stabbing.

“They quickly attended alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and a man in his thirties was taken to hospital where he very sadly died a short time later.

“His family have been informed, and detectives from British Transport Police will be leading the investigation.

“A 29-year-old man from Lewisham was arrested on suspicion of murder today (May 1) at a residential address.”
