A man has been arrested after a suspect vehicle allegedly crashed during a police pursuit before the driver fled the scene.

Police were in pursuit of the suspect vehicle in the SE3 area on Tuesday at around 5.30pm.

It reportedly crashed with a member of the public's vehicle before stopping in Lee High Road.

The driver is then alleged to have fled the scene.

The member of the public was treated by ambulance crews and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Following a foot chase, a man was then detained and arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and possession with intent to supply.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "At 17:30hrs on Tuesday, 19 April police were in pursuit of a suspect vehicle in the SE3 area.

"It collided with a member of the public's vehicle before coming to a stop in Lee High Road.

"The occupant then decamped and fled.

"He was detained following a foot chase and arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and possession with intent to supply.

"The member of the public has been treated by LAS and has non life-threatening injuries.

"The scene has now been closed."
