The victim of a fatal stabbing in New Cross on Wednesday afternoon has been named and pictured.

While formal identification awaits, the victim can be named as Teon Campbell-Pitter, from Lewisham.

Police were called to a fight at the Moonshot Centre in Angus Street just after 4.05pm on Wednesday.

16-year-old Teon was found with stab injuries at the scene close to Fordham Park.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended.

Teon's family are aware.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

There have been no arrests.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances which led to the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Nigel Penney, a homicide detective from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, leads the investigation and said: “Teon was attacked in broad daylight in an area that was busy with people on a Wednesday afternoon.

"I would like to thank those who have already come forward and spoken to police about what they saw but I know there will be others who have yet to do so.

“I would urge you to make contact and provide us with any information you have, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

"We are building a picture of the events that led to Teon’s murder, and your information could prove to be a vital piece of that picture.

“I would also appeal to anyone who took pictures or filmed the events around the time of this attack; again – please get in contact with us and share what you have.

"All information will be treated in the strictest of confidence but if you don’t feel comfortable speaking to police, you can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously.”

Detective Superintendent Danny Gosling, South East Command Unit, said: “A young man has lost his life following this senseless attack and I am acutely aware of the concern and shock that will resonate through the local community.

“I want to reassure people that a team of experienced detectives are investigating Teon’s murder and they will do everything within their power to identify and arrest those responsible.

“But they need your help and I would appeal to those who have information to do the right thing by Teon’s family and friends and tell police what you know.

“Residents in the New Cross area will see an increased police presence in the coming days, including local officers.

"If you have any concerns, or have information that could assist, please approach them and speak to them.”
