A 16-year-old boy has died following a stabbing at a community venue in Lewisham.

Police were called just after 4.05pm on Wednesday to a fight at the Moonshot Centre in Angus Street.

A 16-year-old boy was found at the scene with stab injuries.

Ambulance crews and London's Air Ambulance attended and despite paramedic's efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police scene was put in place and on Wednesday night a forensic examination was underway.

The boy's family are aware.

There have been no arrests.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference CAD 4776/13Apr.

A Section 60 Order granting police additional stop and search powers was authorised for the entirety of the borough of Lewisham.

We have contacted London's Air Ambulance for comment.

A record number of teenagers suffered violent deaths in London last year, with 30 homicides recorded by the Metropolitan Police, passing a previous peak of 29 in 2008.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 4:06pm today (13 April) to reports of an incident on Angus Street, SE14. 

“We sent an ambulance crew, a medic in a car, a team leader and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. 

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of our medics, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.” 

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 16:06hrs on Wednesday, 13 April to a venue in Angus Street, SE14 following reports of a fight in progress.

"Officers responded with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

"A 16-year-old boy was found at the scene with stab injuries.

"Despite the efforts of paramedics he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His family are aware.

"At this very early stage there have been no arrests.

"A crime scene is in place and urgent enquiries are ongoing.

"Any witnesses or those with information are asked to call 101 reference CAD 4776/13Apr.

"A Section 60 Order granting police additional stop and search powers has been authorised for the entirety of the borough of Lewisham."
