A new drama starring Sheridan Smith airs tonight.
Channel 5's new gritty drama, The Teacher follows BAFTA winner Sheridan Smith as a schoolteacher who is accused of sleeping with one of her pupils but has no memory of the night.
The sure-to-be hit show will look into the dark side of being a teacher as Smith character Jenna Garvey handles her emotionally troubled side and her use of alcohol.
Speaking of the role, Smith said that it will make viewers feel "incredibly uncomfortable" as they follow the story filled with plenty of twists and turns.

When will The Teacher be on TV?
The Teacher will air its first episode on Channel 5 at 9pm on Monday, January 31.
It will have a total of four episodes, that will air weekly at the same time and on the same channel.
The Teacher Cast:
The Teacher has a star-studded cast with Sheridan Smith taking the lead as teacher Jenna and Ackley Bridge star Samuel Bottomley playing 15-year old Kyle Hope.
Kelvin Fletcher known for his roles in Emmerdale and Death in Paradise will play Jack a colleague of Jenna.
Sharon Rooney of My Mad Fat Diary and Finding Alice fame will play Nina, while Cecilia Noble with play Pauline Booth.
The Teacher will also star David Fleeshman (It's a Sin), Ian Puleston-Davis (Tin Star) and Sarah-Jane Potts (Waterloo Road).
