Businesswomen from all over the UK – some even phoning in, not to be left out – joined Beckenham businesswoman Jackie Groundsell on Thursday 27 January to celebrate an amazing 20 years of business, locally and globally.

Based and living in Beckenham, as owner of 1230 The Women’s Company, a network providing support and training for businesswomen and those aspiring, Jackie knew she needed a celebratory venue with easy access for those travelling. When in Covent Garden, she knew she’d found “the one” when “Mrs Riot”, appeared before her. A cocktail bar with an amazing history of Kitty Clive, an actress and singer of the 1700s who’d lived in that building. As the first woman to earn more than men, she fought the case of her singing and acting female colleagues for at least equal pay - “Mrs Riot” being her most frequently played part – a real trailblazer! The venue - Mrs Riot it had to be!

1230 TWC holds regular monthly lunch-time meetings and events. The 1230 TWC 20th Birthday Party kick-started back to In-person meetings with 1230 TWC Orpington being first on Thursday 3 February.

1230 TWC Orpington Host, Helen Manchip of The Social Surgery said “Wow, Wow, Wow 20 years! Congratulations and thank you for letting me be part of it”. “I’m so looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday at Scala’s.”
