A man has been arrested and charged following a car theft ordeal in Bromley.

On Sunday, police were flagged down by a man who was stood at the junction of Baring Road and Downham Way.

He said his car had just been stolen, and alleged that the suspect had opened the driver door, imitated a knife and pulled him out of his car by grabbing his throat.

The suspect reportedly sat in the driver seat and then again imitated the knife to the passenger.

Police say that the man said the passenger then got out and the suspect drove away.

Police spotted the stolen car driving into Moorside Road from Launcelot Road, and officers in an unmarked vehicle tried to catch up with the car.

According to officers, the stolen car turned right between Moorside Road and Capstone Road before crashing into a parked car and stopping.

Officers say the driver was challenged by Taser and put in handcuffs.

He was arrested and has since been charged on suspicion of robbery, dangerous driving, no insurance and driving otherwise in accordance.
