A man living in Beckenham has become the first person EVER to have run along every street in the London Borough of Bromley – yes, all 2,903 of them.

Nathan Webster set himself the epic challenge at the back end of 2019, and just over two years later at the start of 2022 he had completed 583.16 miles of running in Bromley.

The 30-year-old had always been a runner – doing 5ks, 10ks, and marathons – but fancied setting himself a new challenge which would get him out to see new places.

News Shopper:

Nathan found the City Strides website and input all his old routes to found out where he had run previously - learning that this was only on eight per cent of Bromley’s roads.

Now, by running three to four times a week, he has covered the entirety of the borough by foot.

Nathan, who works as an actuary in The City, told the News Shopper: “I’d done lots of fast stuff but I was looking to get into something different and for me this was exciting and a bit of a quirk.

“Bromley is the biggest borough in London land-wise and 2,903 streets cover the whole area.

“When I started looking into it there were loads of roads I’d never gone down within just a mile of my house so I decided to challenge myself and see what could be done.”

Nathan took his final Bromley run in Biggin Hill, and has already begun his next challenge to cover the whole of Lewisham – which he says he is already half way through.News Shopper: Nathan at the end of his final runNathan at the end of his final run

He said: “It’s been a great sense of achievement and I usually run with Petts Wood Runners running club so I’ve told the members there and they love the idea too.

“The good thing is there’s no pressure on going fast and going for a long distance.

“It’s about getting out and seeing something new.

“You can see on the website that there are hundreds of people who have signed up to do this in Bromley, or in other towns and cities, but I’m the first to have completed this borough.

“It’s just a bit of fun and you can also zoom out and look at the whole of greater London.

“I want to get into the top 10 runners in greater London, that’d be cool.”
