A man from Greenwich was fined more than £2,000 for failing to provide information on his passenger locator form on arrival to the UK.

Jaffar Hassan, 32, of Cable Walk, arrived at St Pancras International from Paris, which is outside the common travel area, on January 6, 2021.

He failed to provide passenger information on his passenger locator form without “reasonable excuse”, in breach of coronavirus travel laws.

Travellers to the UK are required to complete a passenger locator form online before they arrive.

Hassan was found guilty by Greater Manchester Magistrates' Court on December 13, 2021.

He was fined at initial £1,760 for the offence, an extra £176 to fund victim services and £90 for the costs of the Crown Prosecution Service.

The court gave him until January 10, 2022, to pay the total figure of £2,026.
