A new Lidl store is set to open its doors later this week on Sevenoaks Way in St Mary Cray.

The German retailer confirmed the new supermarket in Orpington will open on Thursday, January 20.

The store opening times will be between 8am and 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am and 4pm on Sunday.

The new store will be a part of the company’s £1.3bn expansion and regeneration plans across the UK for 2021 and 2022, creating around 40 new jobs.

The supermarket will feature new facilities including an in-store bakery and parking for both cars and bicycles.

Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Henry Neel, said: “It is fantastic that we are able to open our doors and welcome residents into our highly anticipated store in St. Mary Cray.

“We have received overwhelming support from residents, and we would like to thank everyone who has played a part in delivering this new store.

“We now look forward to serving our multi-award-winning products to the local community.”

In a statement in November last year, Lidl announced plans to create 4,000 new jobs across the country with a target of 1,100 stores by the end of 2025.

The retailer “remains on track” to have 1,000 stores in the UK by the end of 2023, according to its website.
