A man has been taken to hospital after a flat fire in Chislehurst.

Firefighters rescued a man from a property on Kemnal Road yesterday (January 16) shortly after 12.10am.

The Brigade tackled the blaze in a three-room flat on the ground floor of a residential building.

Neighbours in an opposite flat could “smell burning” and found the smoke to be coming from a door on the ground floor, according to London Fire Brigade (LFB).

Emergency services were informed that someone was in the flat and could see fire at the “rear” of the property.

Fire crews rescued the man from a bedroom and worked “quickly” to bring the fire in the living room under control.

The man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Sidcup and Bromley had attended the scene.

The fire was under control by 1.16am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Neighbours in an opposite flat could smell burning and investigated to find smoke coming from around the door of a flat on the ground floor.
