Audience members at Bromley Churchill Theatre’s Sleeping Beauty pantomime helped to raise nearly £13,000 recently for Great Ormond Street Hospital children’s charity.

It was part of the theatre’s annual Christmas charity bucket collection which took place while the show ran from December 4 to January 2.

The panto, which starred Lee Mead as Prince Harry and Bonnie Langford as The Fairy Lilac, was watched by more than 27,000 people.

The Churchill Theatre has a long-standing relationship with GOSH charity and has raised money for the hospital every Christmas for a number of years.

Bonnie Langford, who is an ambassador for the charity said: ““I’m absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of all the theatregoers who not only supported the pantomime and live theatre, but this amazing charity that has always been so close to my heart.”

Laura Savory, GOSH Charity’s deputy director of community fundraising, said: “Panto is a much-loved festive favourite for so many people and we’re so grateful to the Churchill Theatre and everyone who donated to their Christmas charity bucket collection.

“The money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of seriously ill children from across the UK and for that we’d like to say a massive thank you.”

The Churchill Theatre pantomime will be back this Christmas with Jack & The Beanstalk, which runs from December 3 to December 31, 2022.

Tickets are on sale now with casting yet to be announced.
