A man was fined more than £500 for holding a New Year’s Eve gathering at his Bromley home while the country was in strict lockdown.

Ashley Entecott, 33, of Rodway Road, “participated in a gathering” at his home address, where two or more people were in attendance “without reasonable excuse”, on December 31, 2020.

London was in Tier 4 at the time, which saw people only allowed to leave home for essential purposes, such as to buy food and medical supplies, or for daily exercise.

Mr Entecott was found guilty at Central London Magistrates' Court on January 5, 2022.

He was fined an initial £440 for the offence, an extra £44 to fund victim services and £100 for the costs of the Crown Prosecution Service.

Mr Entecott was given until February 2 to pay the fine.
