A friend of a recently qualified paramedic who tragically died in a crash on the A21 has launched a fundraiser in her memory.

Alice Clark, 21, was praised by her parents as a “beautiful, kind, fun-loving daughter”, after her ambulance was fatally involved in a crash with a cement lorry on January 5.

Until joining South East Coast Ambulance Service, she trained for three years at Greenwich University alongside Yasmin Bekir, who described her as a “pure soul”.

Ms Bekir said: “We spoke often, and I have several, happy memories of Alice and I struggling to lift a chair with a 50kg dummy up the stairs right to our first day at University, where I took her on a tour of Greenwich.

“All of us that studied and trained with Alice have our own story to tell of how much of a beautiful soul she truly and purely was.

“The only way my colleagues and I know how to fix things now is to try and support and care for all of those affected by what has happened to our beautiful, smiley Alice.”

Ms Clark and two other paramedics were responding to an incident when their ambulance was involved in the collision.

Her two colleagues were both taken to hospital following the crash on the A21 near Sevenoaks in Kent, one by helicopter with serious injuries.

Emergency services rushed to the crash, including an air ambulance, but, despite their best efforts, she died at the scene.

Giovanni Mazza, manager for the Paddock Wood Operating Unit where Ms Clark was based, said: “Although she had only been with us for a short time, Alice was already very much part of our ambulance family and will be remembered as a kind and dedicated paramedic.

“She will be deeply and sadly missed by her colleagues and we’re sending our love and prayers to her family and friends during this horrendous time.”

The gofundme page has already raised almost £10,000 in just two days. The funds will go to Ms Clark's family.

Ms Bekir added: “So Alice, really this is for you wherever you are now you pure soul.

“We are so proud of you, thank you for all of the memories and for entering all of our lives, we are truly blessed to have known you and I will carry you in my heart for as long as I live.

“Your infectious smile infected us all and in the quiet hours of my life that's all I can think about and I hope that sticks around forever.”

Police are still appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
