Two children and a woman have been taken to hospital after a car made off from police and crashed with a van.

Officers signalled for the car to stop in the St Pauls Wood/ Leesons Hill area in Chislehurst at around 12.10pm today.

The vehicle made off and crashed with a van driven by another member of the public a short time after.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance and theft.

Police enquiries to trace another man continue.

Two children and a woman in her 20s who were also in the vehicle were treated for minor injuries by London Ambulance Service.

They have gone to hospital.

Road closures were still in place as of 2.50pm.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "At around 12:11hrs police signalled for a vehicle to stop in the St Pauls Wood area/ Leesons Hill, Chislehurst.

"The vehicle made off and collided a short time later with a van driven by another member of the public.

"A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance and theft. Enquiries to trace another male continue.

"Two children and a woman in her 20s who were also in the vehicle were treated for minor injuries by LAS. They have gone to hospital.

"Road closures are in place."
