A full-time mum from Erith says she is worried about her children's future after discovering years of mould in her family home.

Louise Harvey, who lives in a flat at Trefoil House on Kale Road, blamed the fact her kids had been “coughing and throwing up all night" on mould.

The 26-year-old added that her four-year-old son and two-year-old daughter had been put on medication as a result of the state of her home - which is managed by Peabody housing association.

Louise told the News Shopper: “The doctors have given my kids medication after I found them coughing and throwing up all night.

“They confirmed that this was due to the mould situation in our family home.”

She explained that housing association Peabody had not been responsive to fixing the problems in her property when she “desperately” needed help.

A spokesperson for Peabody apologised, and said it is “committed to tackling house problems”.

They added that Peabody has visited Louise’s home on “multiple occasions” to carry out “several” repairs.

Louise also said she now suffers from panic attacks which are “triggered” through conversations about her house.

She said: “I desperately needed help but felt abandoned by Peabody when I reached out to them.

“How can you sleep at night?

“They wouldn’t leave their own home like this so why is it fair for them to treat me like this.

“Whenever I talk to someone regarding the house, it triggers a panic attack. I hate it.”

Louise said Peabody "finally" visited her home last Friday (December 31) to investigate the issue.

She told the News Shopper: "They finally arrived on Friday and told me they are going to see what they can do.

"I guess I just have to wait now."

The Peabody spokesperson said: “We’re sorry about the ongoing issues in Ms Harvey’s flat and understand her concerns which we’re trying to resolve.

“We have carried out several repairs, visited on multiple occasions and have contacted Ms Harvey again today (December 30) to try and make progress.

“We have invested in Trefoil House in recent years with new windows and other improvements.

“It is the case that responsive repairs and planned improvement programmes have been affected by the pandemic and other challenges.

“We are committed to proactively tackling problems like this and investing in people’s homes for the long term.”
