TRAIN services at Lewisham are being delayed this morning (January 4) due to a signalling problem at the station.

The repairs were reported by Southeastern rail at around 9.17am today following an announcement from Railway Kent and Sussex at 7.44am.

Southeastern said the problem at the station is causing delays of up to 40 minutes.

The disruption through Lewisham is expected to last until 12.00pm.

The Charing Cross to Ramsgate services will be diverted into Victoria while repairs are carried out.

Passengers are advised to use the underground service between Victoria and Charing Cross and also Waterloo and London Bridge.

Southeastern rail tweeted (@Se_Railway): “Due to a signalling problem at #Lewisham the Charing Cross to Ramsgate Services will be diverted into Victoria while repairs are carried out.

“A signalling problem near #Lewisham is causing delays of up to 40 minutes.

“Trains between Charing Cross & Ramsgate via Tonbridge will run to and from Victoria.

“You can use the Underground between Victoria & Charing Cross, Waterloo & London Bridge at no extra cost.”

Railway Kent and Sussex tweeted (@NetworkRailSE): “We’ve had to send technicians to #Lewisham to a set of points that’s refusing to say it’s locked in place.

“It’s a new kit that worked fine all night in testing and of course has gone wrong now.

“We’re working with @Se_Railway.

“There will be short term disruption to trains while we do it.

“The team is confident the work won’t take long but it’s a busy stretch of railway on the main lines to London (not in #Lewisham itself).

“@Se_Railway will be able to give travel advice while the work goes on.

Train services passing through Slade Green this morning are also being delayed and cancelled due to “urgent repairs”.
