Coronavirus figures from over the Christmas period have been released – and in each south east London boroughs the cases are rising.

It comes as Health Secretary Sajid Javid has said no further measures will be introduced in England until the new year at least, despite fears of the Omicron variant spreading rapidly.

There were 1,281 Covid-19 hospital admissions in England on December 25, NHS England said.

This is up 74 per cent week-on-week and the highest number since February 16.

In London, 364 admissions were reported on December 25, up 73 per cent week-on-week but below the 390 admissions reported on December 23.

A total of 8,474 people were in hospital in England with Covid-19 as of 8am on December 27, according to new figures from NHS England.

This is up 27 per cent from a week earlier and is the highest number since March 5.

In London, 2,640 people were in hospital with Covid-19 on December 27, up 45% week-on-week and the highest number since February 22.

Here are the number of recorded positive coronavirus cases by specimen date over the Christmas period in south east London:

Bexley

Christmas Eve: 612 cases

Christmas Day: 159 cases

Boxing Day: 147 cases

The latest case rate in Bexley was recorded on December 22 as 2,002 cases per 100,000 people.

This was a 77.7 per cent increase in the seven days prior.

Bromley

Christmas Eve: 682 cases

Christmas Day: 328 cases

Boxing Day: 236 cases

The latest case rate in Bromley was recorded on December 22 as 2,067.9 cases per 100,000 people.

This was a 63.8 per cent increase in the seven days prior.

Dartford

Christmas Eve: 238 cases

Christmas Day: 75 cases

Boxing Day: 67 cases

The latest case rate in Dartford was recorded on December 22 as 1,866.7 cases per 100,000 people.

This was a 62.6 per cent increase in the seven days prior.

Greenwich

Christmas Eve: 598 cases

Christmas Day: 188 cases

Boxing Day: 165 cases

The latest case rate in Greenwich was recorded on December 22 as 2,205.6 cases per 100,000 people.

This was a 62.3 per cent increase in the seven days prior.

Lewisham

Christmas Eve: 670 cases

Christmas Day: 235 cases

Boxing Day: 168 cases

The latest case rate in Lewisham was recorded on December 22 as 2,552.2 cases per 100,000 people.

This was a 67.8 per cent increase in the seven days prior.
