A video circulating on TikTok shows police officers searching two men for drugs outside a club in south east London.

The video shows two police officers and two men in an exchange in New Cross Road in Lewisham.

One of the police officers explains to the men “listen to me both of you, we’ve been told by the staff (in the club) that you’ve been overheard conspiring to spike someone or spike people inside the club”.

She clarifies “obviously I’m searching you for drugs at the minute” after continuing her explanation which is drowned out by one of the men shouting “nah allow that” repeatedly.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police has since said officers on patrol were called to a “disturbance” in New Cross Road.

The officers “spoke to a member of staff at a nearby venue who alleged that two men had been acting suspiciously inside the premises”.

Two men were detained nearby and a search was carried out.

Nothing was found in their possession and no further action was taken, according to the Met Police.

TikTokers have viewed the video more than eight million times, and it has received more than one million likes, and nine thousand comments.

The video begins with a female officer explaining to the men why they are being searched.

One of them tells her “you need to allow that” as the other “begs” his friend to “stop talking bruv”.

They then ask “if you search us and you find nothing can you let us go” – to which the police officers do not appear to answer.

The footage then shows one of the men in handcuffs with his arms behind his back with a male police officer holding onto one arm.

The other man, who had been shouting, can then be seen facing the female officer also with his hands handcuffed behind his back.

He can be seen talking to her but it is unclear exactly what he is saying.

A police officer then picks something up from the pavement but it is also unclear what this is – but a man can be heard responding “bang out of order”.

The full Met Police statement said: “On Thursday, 18 November officers on patrol in Lewisham were called to a disturbance on New Cross Road, SE14.

“Officers attended and spoke to a member of staff at a nearby venue who alleged that two men had been acting suspiciously inside the premises.
