A number of power tools have been stolen during a series of vehicle break-ins in Croydon and Bromley.

Around 60 electrical tools, that are believed stolen, were recovered from a vehicle that failed to stop for police in Croydon on September 2.

The vehicle came to a stop at Briar Lane, Croydon and three male suspects who fled the vehicle were detained nearby.

A 20-year old man, an 18-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of theft of and theft from motor vehicle[s].

They were taken to a north London police station and were subsequently released under investigation.

Police are now appealing for the owners of the stolen tools to come forward and claim their property.

Detective Constable Anna Ruscoe of the Met’s South Area Command said: “We understand the inconvenience and expense of replacing tools, particularly for those victims who use them to earn their living. If your tools were stolen recently please do get in touch.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Detectives investigating a series of vehicle break-ins involving the theft of power tools in Croydon and Bromley have made three arrests and are appealing for the owners of the stolen tools to come forward and claim their property.

"Around 60 electrical tools, that are believed stolen, were recovered from a vehicle that failed to stop for police in Croydon on Thursday, 2 September.

"The vehicle came to a stop at Briar Lane, Croydon and three male suspects who fled the vehicle were detained nearby.

"A 20-year old male [A], an 18-year-old male [B] and a 26-year-old male [C], were arrested on suspicion of theft of and theft from motor vehicle[s].

"They were taken to a north London police station and were subsequently released under investigation.

"As the case continues, officers are now seeking to reunite the tools with their rightful owners.

"Anyone who has been the victim of tool theft in the Croydon or Bromley area should contact police on 101 or Tweet @MetCc quoting 4437/2SEP."
