A Bromley school has made it into the top 20 preparatory schools in the UK according to the Parent Power Sunday Times 2022 guide.

Breaside Preparatory School in Orchard Road ranks at number 18.

Executive Principle of Breaside, Karen Nicholson reveals their success is down to “love of teaching and love being taught”.

She said: “Honestly, we’re blown away, what’s been going on in the last couple of years, and even to remain in the top 100, is truly sensational.

“It’s down to the amazing teachers, pupils and the parents we have at school.

“I truly believe that the children have a love of learning and the teachers have a love of teaching.

“It’s a combination of loving to teach and love being taught.

“They are dedicated where children are happy here, they challenge themselves, we challenge them and are very independent young people, they know where they want to be in life.”

Breaside's ranking was based on their average scaled score of reading at 110, grammar was 110.7 and maths was 111, which totals a score of 333.17.

The total score of the top Preparatory school, Guildford High Junior School, was 343.

The results were revealed by the Sunday Times Parent Power guide which identifies the highest achieving schools in the UK.

Primary school rankings are based on the average outcomes achieved by schools in Standard Assessment Tests (SATs) in the three years, 2017-19.

The Sunday Times aggregated the scaled scores – where 100 indicates the standard which children are expected to achieve aged 11 – for reading; grammar, punctuation and spelling; and maths in each of the three years and ranked schools on the average aggregated score.
