A PUB in Bexley has raised money for the Hurst Primary School Parent Association (PA).

The PA is an organisation run by group of parents who have children that attend the primary school.

The Silver Fox Micro Pub, on Montpelier Avenue has raised £1500 for the organisation since they started running the boozer in July 2020.

Money is raised through quiz nights, ‘rock and roll’ bingo events, 'race nights' and sales of donated paintings from local artists.

A cheque was presented by the Mayor of Bexley, James Hunt, in an event at the pub on Saturday.

The event was organised by owners of Silver Fox, Simon Fox, and Niki Frost.

Niki that they will continue to do more and raise money for their local school association.

She said: “Even though we raised this money, we’re still going to continue raising money for the school, its logical to because of Covid the PA’s not been able to get that much money.

“50 percent of our takings for the race nights goes towards the fund. So, on a typical race night we can put around £200 quite easily.”

Niki asks local artists to come forward who want to donate paintings to the pub for their funding.

She said: “We’re desperate for some paintings from local artists, we’ve put a shout out for it but not got many responses, we had a couple of paintings that were donated to us.”

The deputy chairman of the school’s PA, Shelley Brown, was also in attendance.

Niki also added “The local community have been very supportive of us over the past 16 months. We are pleased to be able to give something back.

“This is only since July that we’ve been able to hold events, so I should imagine that this time next year, we should raise another £1500 or maybe £2000 again.”
